PERSONAL TRAINER & FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

WHEN AND WHY DID YOU START PRACTICING YOGA?
I started Yoga just over a year ago, I was recommended Rob by another PT colleague who recommended Dynamic Balance for a challenge to someone who took part in running and cycling etc. I really enjoyed it and wish I could practice more frequently.
HAS YOGA CHANGED YOU – IF SO IN WHICH WAY?
Yes, it has made me aware that I need to listen to my body and mind in so many more ways than I did before. I have started to create a balance in my training and up to now it has had a positive impact on my training performance...... I think I may actually be a bit calmer now as well!!
SOMETIMES IT CAN BE DIFFICULT TO TURN UP TO SESSIONS. WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO KEEP PRACTICING?
I find the sessions tough and sometimes when I’m tired or I’ve had back to back clients at work, I just want to sit down and do nothing. I then remind myself why it is that I take part and of the rewards of avoiding injuries (touch wood) and even being a better class instructor myself .... it’s also me time, I don’t have that a lot.
HOW DOES PRACTICE HELP YOU IN YOUR CHOSEN SPORT AND/OR WORK?
Tremendously, I hate to think what my back, hamstrings and hips would be like if I didn’t take part. My main aim to encourage my partner to take part in more sessions.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PRACTICE IN 3 WORDS?
Inspiring, challenging, invaluable
